When it first aired, this series was groundbreaking, not least because techniques and technologies used to produce a lot of the footage were, at the time, unique. Over ten years later and it still stands up extremely well. This is due in part to Robert Winston's excellent presentation. He manages to make the material both easy to understand and interesting. Although the DVD may seem expensive, it does include a bonus disc, which describes how the series was made and is as equally fascinating as the series itself. Note: Some overseas releases may be cut or censored. The UK release is, as far as I can tell, still in its original form. |
