The big waterjar is the central point of the burning hot schoolyard in an Iranian desert village. When the jar cracks, the social structure of the village also begins to crack.
The new teacher’s inoffensive attempts to acquire help from the villagers to mend the jar are met with distrust and gossip. None of the childrens’ parents are willing to assume any responsibility for the situation. Every plea for help is interperted as an attempt to exploit the villagers.
