В провинциальном французском городе орудует настоящая банда педофилов. Ради удовлетворения своей похоти они покупают детей в неблагополучных семьях, а порой и просто крадут их. Так некогда был похищен и бесследно пропал сын Виолен. А сейчас в дом одинокой женщины постучал напуганный маленький Эрик. В то время, как его сестра, проданная собственным отцом, ублажала негодяев, мальчику удалось сбежать. Уверенная в том, что полиция куплена педофильским лобби, Виолен обращается к своему давнему другу, хозяину оружейного магазина Матьё. Вместе они начинают расследование, которое приводит их к первым лицам города.

Jean-Pierre Mocky was a prolific director: more than 60 movies, including some comedies. His principal subject matter though is social justice and the abuse of power by the elite. So judging by the body of work of its director, you would want to see Les ballets écarlates. The name is derived from "Les balles bleus", the name given to a Police investigation into the sexual abuse of minors in 1982. The case involved some well known personalities but doubts were later raised on their actual involvements as the case was all over the media and political and judicial pressure cast some doubt on the motives of some of the accusers. When theatres and distribution networks ended up refusing to play the movie, JP Mocky claimed that is was a conspiracy to cover his his denunciation of the rich and powerful. That claim is all the more ridiculous when anyone can easily figure out that the networks didn't want to play the movie for the simple reason that is it so bad no-one wanted to see it at all. The cast is mostly amateur and it's painful to watch. It feels worse than amateur: they surely just pulled out people from the street and asked them to recite the insipid lines that make up the dialogues. The subject is a fantasy involving bad people -of course all rich and powerful- who relish in abusing our youngsters by paying off their parents, or something like that. Get it, watch it, and judge for yourself. Some cute kids and the premise of a story that could have given us something interesting to watch but failed miserably.... more Rating: 6/10 |
