Pablo is a bright 13 year-old boy who has recently moved from Spain to California with his grandmother. They join Pablo's mother, a severe woman, a single mom whose main concern for him is his success in school and then in a respectable profession. Grandma is a former Flamenco star and she discovers Pablo has a hidden talent, and the soul of a great dancer. She arranges for him to be trained by the best Flamenco dancer in the world, but in secret because his mother hates Flamenco dancing and culture.
