Set in Italy, the film follows the lives and interactions of two boys/men, one born a bastard of peasant stock (Depardieu), the other born to a land owner (de Niro). A very long film but is also very good involving the two boys growing up. In the barn scene, the one boy can be described as being aroused but most probably this is just a natural occurance.
