While Erik Lund is studying child psychology and is writing his dissertation on "The psychology - the problem-solving factor in modern child-rearing", his sister Else is dedicated to her child-rich family practicaly. It seems a convenient coincidence that he can prepare for his doctoral viva in his sister's house and incidentally keep her six children while she accompanies her husband on a business trip.
But the evil takes its course quickly: the housekeeper breaks her leg and must be hospitalized and the young bachelor Erik has to guard six children and two dogs. Soon he realizes the big difference between theory and practice, especially as the pack of children ranges from sweet baby Blop to teen Rikke with her boy-friend. Each of the six offspring has its own head and his own habits. It begins with breakfast bread and ends with rituals when going to bed. Uncle Erik is easily overwhelmed, not only because his "nice" neighbor Andersen omits no opportunity to set the police on him.
Beside all cockiness Erik's nieces and nephews, not only think on themselfs, but want to their uncle good by finding a woman for him. Lisbeth the neighbor's daughter is the chosen one. What a good fortune that she has a heart for the large crowd of children as for the stressed Erik as well.
