A new headmaster for a school, Schoolmaster Spitzbart comes with his family - wife and son - in a little town. He was hired, because he wrote a book about education of kids without punishment. Now he tries to convince the old-fashioned teachers from his ideas, but exaggerates, donating the students goodies like cookies and sausages for right answers. That annoys the other teachers just more. Mrs. Spitzbart met in this school her former lover as a teacher and falls in love with him again. When Spitzbart realizes, that his wife wants to leave him - and that his plan for education had failed, he tries to hang himself, but his son, who likes to cut ropes, did cut this rope too. And Mrs. Spitzbart, suddenly understanding, that she loves her husband, comes back, finding him alive yet, sitting on the floor. Happy end.

Fine German movie with one short caning scene, played by very good actors. To write a book about education doesn't make someone to a good educator, quite the contrary. Rating: 10/10 |
