Once upon a time a sick little boy named Conrad lived under the oppressive rule of his tyrannical aunt, Miss Anthrop. Conrad's only friends are found in his wild imagination, and in a forgotten old tool shed. There he also keeps a frazzled Anabaptist duck, as well as something much more peculiar. His dark secret is a creature named Orson, who lives in a locked cupboard in the dark shed. This creature inspires Conrad to embrace the fierce, impatient side of life, and find the joy that makes it worth living. When Miss Anthrop threatens to unlock the shed, uncover his secret, and destroy his friends Conrad must decide if he will finally give up under the lonesome strain of reality, or if he will fight back, choose life, and find freedom. Conrad the Wise is a timeless fable about imagination and rebellion. Straight out of a storybook world, it is about the collision between the oppressive adult world and the limitless enthusiasm of childhood, and about the frightening consequences if once, just once, the adults didn't win... - IMDb
