Napoleon and his son, who is known to history as "The King of Rome," are discovered playing together at Bonaparte's headquarters. Countess de Courville is announced. She has a petition praying for the pardon of her son, who is to be executed for taking part in a conspiracy. Her prayer is refused. Going out she passes the little King playing with the Grenadiers. Sinking into a chair, she bursts into tears, attracting the child King. He inquires the reason, then intercedes with Napoleon and is rebuked. Grief-stricken, he is forgiven for his interference by Napoleon, who in turn asks for forgiveness. The little King refuses to forgive his father unless the Emperor reads the letter brought by the countess. The Man of Destiny accepts the condition, reads the letter, sends for the countess and gives her a pardon for her son. - IMDb
