I am very surprised to see that 'Fortress of War' is not listed on RFF.
Directed by Alexander Kott, and from the original idea by Igor Ulgolnikov, it has to be one of the best WW2 films depicting the ongoing fight between the Nazis and the Russians. The hero of the film: twelve-year-old Sashka Akimov, played by Aleksey Kopashov, ranks him as one of the best actors of his age.

This is one of the finest war films made in recent years. It has great acting, superb cinematography and accurately portrays both the brutality of war and the incredible bravery of the men, women and children of Belarus and Russia who were involved in this heroic episode of The Great Patriotic War (WWII). Not enough people in The West are fully aware of the debt of gratitude we owe them in their determination to uphold the highest values of European civilisation.
