Small Windows is the story of 13-year-old Jon (Mark Presser) and his quest to find a better life after the passing of his mother. While his father completes business matters in Europe, Jon is sent to live with his uncle Lyle (David Strongin) and his older cousin Anne (Deborah Syrdal), whom he's never met, at their cottage in Lake Tahoe. Lyle soon heads back to San Francisco on work related matters and leaves Anne to take care of Jon. While Lyle is away, Jon meets two local hoodlums, Evan and Billy (Myles Telford, Richard Connelly) and together they explore the world of petty crime and drinking.
Soon after Jon's arrival, he begins to grow closer to Anne as the two spend more time together much to the disapproval of Anne's new boyfriend. But as any curious boy would do, he continues to test the waters and explore these new feelings. Will anything come out of this relationship? See it through "Small Windows."

A very good movie despite its extreme low budget. Mark Presser plays a teen who has his first romance over the summer break. The plot is routine, but the actors especially Mark are quite good for being unkowns. The analog/film transfer is poor to fair depending on the lighting for the scene. You can still see what is going on in the darkly lit scenes, but being spoiled by crisp movies in today's digital age, I have to be tough on it. Recommended. Rating: 8/10 |
