In a hot summer that will change their life forever, Sandro (Giuseppe Furl?), Cinzia (Giulia Coccellato) and Carmine’s (Giampaolo Stella) friends, two little girls, are found raped and murdered. The children discover that the killer is doctor Boldrini, the new local pediatrician, (Filippo Timi) but knowing that the adults, who are intimidated by him, will never believe them, they decide to keep quiet. When Carmine’s sister disappears they know they have to take the matter into their own hands.

Здесь живут в основном семьи приезжих, переселившихся из других районов страны. На ничейной земле, между городом и деревней, расположилась огромная свалка – беспредельное «чудовище» из железного лома, место их игр и приключений. Тут маленькая банда ребятни обустроила для себя «замок», и весело проводит время вдали от посторонних глаз. Однако, неожиданно неодушевленный «монстр» оживает – кто-то изнасиловал и убил двух девочек. Юным героям картины «Ржавчина» придется столкнуться с этим дьяволом во плоти лицом к лицу…
