Все события в их жизни были тесно переплетены с самими важными историческими событиями ХХ века. Вторая мировая война разлучила семью — Спирос был вынужден бежать в США. После начала гражданской войны в Греции, Элени вместе со многими соотечественниками эмигрировала в СССР. Много позже падение Берлинской стены ознаменует начало новой главы в истории семьи. За прошедшие годы им пришлось пережить немало: Ташкент, Сибирь, Нью-Йорк, Торонто — вот лишь несколько остановок в многолетних странствиях этой семьи по миру.
